Choosing the perfect vinyl wrap for your vehicle or fleet takes the knowledge and expertise of industry leaders. What should you be looking for when deciding? Big Picture Graphics understands the ins and outs and we have put together this information guide to help!
Taking into account the angles, spaces and curves of the vehicle when designing a wrap, choosing the right vinyl wrap can go a long way to creating the visual impact you’re looking for on your vehicle. The material, whether high quality or low, should be the first questions answered when seeking the right vinyl wrap.
We all know the saying “You get what you pay for”, but with car wraps this is truly the case. If you’re looking for quality and longevity of the wrap, then you want your wrap shop to use the highest quality vinyl. This doesn’t mean that just because a shop states they use 3M, for example, that particular vinyl is the right choice for your vehicle. 3M and other manufacturers offer many different types of material from Cast Vinyl, or high quality-high cost, to lower performance, cheaper Calendared Vinyl.
A key component in choosing the right vinyl wrap is selecting the proper overlaminate used in combination with the vinyl. Many shops will use a Cast vinyl but will reduce their cost by using cheaper Calendared Laminate. This may not be visible to even a trained eye, but will start to fade much faster than using Cast laminate with Cast vinyl. A major problem with using calendared laminate is the fact that it will most likely bubble and pop out of position within the first few months, as it is not designed to be used on vehicle curves.
Choosing the design, the material, the production and preparation are all important components in selecting the right vinyl wrap.
